Today we went for a ride on the Streetcar here in N’Awlins. And it makes you wonder why public transport is in such a mess, and so damn well bloody expensive, in Sydney.
Consider that a single adult ticket on the streetcar here costs just $1.25; an all-day pass, allowing you take unlimited rides on the buses and streetcars here, is just $3. As an adult, is there any public transport fare in Sydney that is this inexpensive? I don’t believe so, but I am happy to be corrected.
So, after riding out to Carrolton and back, we adjourned to Mother’s on Poydras for lunch, wandered into the Quarter to Cafe Du Monde for afternoon cafe au lait, and then to Laura’s Candies for some essential supplies (chocolate truffles) before returning to our hotel room for an afternoon nana nap.
Tomorrow is day 1 of Jazzfest, and the weather has warmed up considerably after yesterday’s greyness and drizzle..
